Donnell B. Young Scholarship for America’s 250th

Guided by President – and Alden descendant – John Adams’s enduring belief that communities must “cherish the education of the rising generation,” and in honor of America’s 250th anniversary, the Alden Kindred of America is pleased to extend the deadline for the 2026 Donnell B. Young Scholarship award.

We are inviting applications from:

  • High school seniors planning to attend college, and
  • College freshmen, sophomores, and juniors

Applicants must be certified lineage members of the Alden Kindred of America. Previous recipients are welcome to apply.  Application is available here AKA scholarship 2026 updated

Established in 1985 in honor of the father of longtime member Barbara Itz, now 98, the scholarship reflects our ongoing commitment to education, heritage, and future generations. Since its first award in 1987, the scholarship has provided more than $40,000 to Alden lineage members. What began as a $500 award has grown into a $2,500 scholarship supporting students who carry forward the legacy of John and Priscilla Alden. Recent recipients include Ryan Curley, who recently received his master’s degree and shares a special message with our members in the video here https://youtube.com/shorts/lHkFVZmM1nc?feature=share
