Want to be a part of history? Come and join us at
the Alden House!
Here are just a few of the volunteer
opportunities for young and old alike:
q Museum guides: A most rewarding way to meet people from
around the world. Learn from America’s leading expert on Pilgrim life, Jim
Baker. Work in an American treasure. A great resume item for students and a
unique experience for empty-nesters, teachers, and history buffs.
q Gardeners: Tend to our flax and corn garden or nurture our
perennial gardens. Help us develop a landscape plan.
q Gift shop attendants/merchandisers/buyers: Aunt Polly is
looking for a few good people with retailing experience to tend to her wares in
the gift shop. The museum depends on income from the shop.
q Event photographer: Have your pictures published in our
newsletters and publicity material. Digital camera required.
q Events planning: Are you a good organizer? Love to throw
parties?
q Meeters and greeters: Help us welcome guests to events and
exhibits, serve refreshments, be room guides (adopt a room and answer questions
during walk-through tours). Wonderful social activity.
q Stringer: Free-lance writer for press releases and
publicity articles about the Alden House Historic Site, the Aldens, and the
Alden Kindred.
q Education program developer: Help develop educational
programs that will bring the Alden story to the community in a meaningful way.
q Volunteer coordinator: Someone to recruit and organize
other volunteers. Enthusiasm required.
q Halloween ghouls, goblins, organizers, crowd controllers for our biggest crowd attraction, the Haunted House, October 30.
q Golfers and non-golfers: Our third annual Alden Open,
September 27. If you don’t golf, help with luncheon and reception, tickets,
registration, raffles – and have fun!
Museum hours
are 12:00 noon to 4:00, Monday through Saturday, mid May through mid October.
Office hours vary throughout the year. Mother’s hours available; inquire for
